TODD HEATER: DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Todd Heater began his career in the film industry as an electrician in the late 80s, with aspirations of becoming a cinematographer. Fascinated with the art of celluloid lighting, Todd's love and determination to his craft quickly put him in the company of some of the best cinematographers in the film industry. Cinematographers such as Peter Biziou (Mississippi Burning), Michael Sersin (The wall, Harry Potter), and Salvatore Totino (Cinderella man), Dion Bebee (Memoirs of a Geisha, Chicago) have molded Todd into one of the best Chief Lighting Technicians (Gaffers) in the business today.

In 2002, Todd opened a motion picture lighting company called Heatwaves, which would later become known as an industry standard. With his new company behind him, Todd has been the Gaffer on films such as "The Life of David Gale," "Mercury Rising" and "Domestic Disturbance," to name a few, as well as a laundry list of commercials. In 2003, Todd began his work as a cinematographer doing small films and projects, always experimenting and honing his own unique style and flavor.

Todd's work and love of surfing peaked the attention of the surf world giant, Producer/Director, Taylor Steele. Taylor introduced Todd to Surf Photographer, Dustin Humphrey and the three visionaries embarked on a three-year expedition to make the Travel/ Surf documentary, "Sipping Jetstreams."
